"wow, they're really good!" i yell above the blare of the music. i turn my head back to the crowd. watch those before me dance to the songs we grew up to. songs that i recall from school dances and cassette tapes. i notice a woman making out lustfully with a man directly in front of me. 'wow, those two are at it!' the man departs, heads to the bar to purchase another favorite beverage. the woman turns and now begins to kiss another man. 'woah!' i look back over to my friend, "ummm.." his eyes too are large, shocked by the sight. the woman begins to dance with her new found lover and another man comes up behind her. starts to rub her back,

"i was a bounty hunter. i've been stabbed and held at gunpoint numerous times. but nothing phased me til one of my last jobs. it was actually a job to bring in my brother. one of those stories where two kids are raised by the same parents, but go in completely different directions. our parents were both working parents. never drank or smoked or did anything bad. but he just decided to go a completely different route. he started out with drinking, then began smoking, then smoking weed. he was always like, "smoking never killed anybody." but then he started doing pills and then one day, he found himself a $5 bag

i went to the market needing bread and milk and a few other luxuries i'm growing unable to afford. i pulled my headphones out of my pocket and adjusted the music so high nothing else could enter. as i perused the aisles, nothing affected me. no kids screaming. no slow old man in front of me. no yellow tags of reduced prices. i felt as if i was alone. invisible. floating around as if i were some wandering spirit. i smiled at a man that looked as if he was staring at me. but there was no reciprocation. perhaps he was looking through me? at the jumbo box of cracker jacks directly behind me? an aged couple blocked the fluidity of a lane. and d
